The audio is quiet as first as Yukari fiddles with the device. She's never seen it before she'd arrived at Vatheon, nor does she know why it's shaped like a starfish, but nevertheless, it intrigues her, and she can't help but mess with it. She sighs; if only Fuuka were around, surely she'd be able to figure it out in a heartbeat. But she supposed she had to figure it out on her own. She had it for a reason, after all... just like she had been drawn to Vatheon, for some reason, even if she didn't know it.

Is... is this thing... recording?!

She notices the red light and feels a little panicked. Thinking back on the past year, her experiences with video cameras--hidden or otherwise--had not been good. The screen shakes now as she fumbles around, pushing various buttons, trying to find the one she'd pushed before. Nothing is labeled. Nothing makes sense, and it all looks the same.

Ah--!

Her face shows for just a second more, and suddenly, the screen goes dark...

She hopes no one saw that.

Would you like some help?

Ah! -- o-oh, it's still on?

Yukari's face is red now, as she looks at the girl with the short blue hair. She's not sure how to react, or even if she can see her at all, but she is nervous all the same.

U-umm, yeah, I guess so... I'm usually a little better at things like this but...

She pauses for a moment, studying her.

H-hey, I don't think I've seen you... you know, around Vatheon... yet...

[She giggles a little, flushing a bit herself.]

Ah, probably not. I spend most of my time in the library. I'm Ami Mizuno.

The library, huh?

She chuckles a little. It was her favorite place to study, back at home... her own world. She wondered if she'd ever see it again.

I had no idea. I... haven't really had a chance to explore this place yet. I'll have to check it out.

She pauses for a moment, finally remembering something important.

Oh, right. I'm Yukari.

I'd be happy to show you around, if you like! It's hard to get used to this place.

Well. She certainly wasn't used to being called a foreigner, of all things, but she supposed it was a perfect description for her here. She's shocked this woman's positivity right from the get go--especially since it seems to be just a little contagious.

Heh. Yeah, I guess that's me all right. And... no, I think I would have remembered meeting you. I'm... I'm Yukari. Yukari Takeba.

This is actually the first time she remembers being the first to offer her name. How odd.

Maya Amano! Nice to meet you, Yukari-chan! I work for Kismet Publishing's monthly "Coolest," editorial division. I'm starting it here in Vatheon, too, soon as I get enough material together.

[ A pause. ]

I guess it might be a little shocking, huh? But this place is another world, so we're all sort of 'foreigners' here. Mind you, I'm from Sumaru city, Japan, myself.

So! If you have questions? I'd be happy to answer them, since I'm part of the welcoming committee!

She remains mostly silent as she takes in the information. She has never heard of the company Maya has been publishing for, but she was sure that if she asked, she would be more than willing to tell her all about it. She instead nods, and suddenly...

Huh. She actually looked a bit serious there. And since she is offering up information, Yukari supposes it is only fair that she do the same.

I've, uh... I've never been there. I'm actually from Tatsumi Port Island. And... I didn't realize there was a welcoming committee here in Vatheon...

Questions. Where was she even going to begin?

Just flashes of memory, passing by in her head. She... she is their leader...! Minato is the leader she remembers... but this girl, Haruka... she is too.
